November 24, 2011 Turkey Day Striper Boat Limit

With the questionable forecast this morning, I arrived at the dock to a strong NW wind and was wondering if today would break this annual tradition. Told the guys we’d head out and if it looked like we were going to take a beating, I’d turn back. So off Hollywood Mike, Joe O, Joe S, Steve, Tim and mate Ed went. As we turned the hook to head South for the tog grounds I was glad we did as the ride was essentially flat. About half we there we came across the mother load of birds with great marks beneath them. By 8:30 the guys had a boat limit of 14 quality Stripers (a bunch in the teens) on our Shimano Stradic 5000 / Teramar outfits and artificals including Joe S with his first ever keepers. Plenty of shorts were released and it I just couldn’t keep count as it was crazy, fast and furious. With the box full and the guys wanting to see if we could add some tog, we left them biting and continued South.

Made 3 Tog drops and couldn’t get a good bite going until the current eased and of course it was time to get everyone home for their Turkey Dinner. The guys managed to box 8 keeper Tog and tossed back upwards to 2 dozen shorts in the short window of time we had left to tog. All in an all another great Turkey Day trip with everyone going home with plenty of white meat…
