Sept 19, 2010 Jason Field Bottom Fishing Charter

Had the Jason Field party out for Porgy, Seabass and Tog. This trip was a reschedule of a Fluke date blowout. Anchoring conditions were tough in the morning but as the day progressed they got better. Slow start but nonetheless we pretty much had drop and reel fishing all day.

Hit the Porgy drops first making 3 or 4 of them until we had a steady pick going. The Pork Chops were big and I wet a line at one point and pulled a 17″ Porgy. Only one short Porgy was caught. We did best at depths 30ft and above. Fishing the neigboring deeper water between 45ft and 30ft was not as productive. Some keeper and short Sea Bass were mixed in. When the guys boated their limit of Porgys we moved offshore to 65ft of water to hit on for Sea Bass. The guys boated 18 keeper Sea Bass and their 3 man limit of Blackfish tossing back more short Sea Bass and Tog than we could keep track of. When double header Tog started coming over the rail on hi low rigs with clams we started baiting them with crabs. 6 Fluke were also sent back.

All fish were caught on Clams and Green Crabs with Porgy & Sea Bass rigs supplied to us by Richie tropics. By Days end the guys kept over 100 fish and returned over 50 short fish back. Non stop action with a great bunch of guys, fun was had by all. It was nice to be back on the water fishing again from the weather imposed hiatus. Equally nice to have Dom back from school for a day in the cockpit.
