June 12, 2010 Rick Acevedo JCAA Fluke Tournament Charter – 8th Place Sandy Hook

Today NetKeeper Sportfishing hosted the Rick Acevedo Charter to fish the JCAA Tournament. Started fishing snags in Shallow water down the beach and worked our way to deeper water collecting shorts, skates, blackfish, sea bass and the occasional keeper along the way. Around noon we hooked up on GULP with a 26″, 6.6# fish that landed us in a tie for 8th/9th place in the Sandy Hook weigh-in Port. By days end the guys boxed 5 keeper Fluke, 15 Sea Bass and a blue. Fished into the hard SE winds that came on strong around noon until 2:30 when we headed for weigh-in. I was hoping NOAA would be wrong, not today. Great bunch of guys who fished hard all day. After 8 years of trying Rick was very happy to have a placing fish and I happy we were able to make it happen for him on his first trip with us. Have to say it felt good to take what will probably be a short-lived break from Striped Bass fishing and target the flatties.

Below are the weights for the Sandy Hook Port which had the highest total weights and lengths of all the ports. Click here to view the full JCAA 2010 tournament results.
